Charger Overheating, and then not working.

My charger started overheating and then totally stopped working.

First,I disconnected it from the laptop and reconnected it a few times, and it wouldn't work at all. I decided to let the charger cool and plug it back in the electrical plug. When I plugged it back in, it started working but again started overheating and within a few mins after the charger totally stopped working again.
