Please help!
My Macbook seems to be deleting random files. I thought this at first, regardin a doc. a few days ago. I was reading a word document today, made a reference to it in a paper I am writing, and now, when I went to open it again. It vanished. It is not the first time this happens.
I am 100% sure that I did not delete it.
What can I do?

Glad you have it fixed. It wasn't iCloud's "fault". It just did what it was told. That's why I suggested checking the setting.
UPDATE: It seems that the iCloud, for some reason, is at fault...I managed to restore the file through iCloud and moved everything offline.
OS X does not randomly delete your files. Perhaps you have some utility you've installed, did not correctly save the file or saved it in another location. Did you search for it using Spotlight or another search program?
Check to make sure it's not being moved to iCloud.
Open System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud Drive > Options. Make sure "Desktop & Documents Folders" is unchecked.
Yes I have, I knew the exact location of the .doc file. It was in a folder on my desktop and saved on iCloud. It could not have been deleted if I closed the file from the red top left button.
It was saved on iCloud...does this have to do with it?
I save my documents on iCloud. Does iCloud erase them or something?
