wireless hdmi mac mini

Hi All

I would like to remove the hdmi cable that is connecting my Mac Mini to the TV (so I can move it)

I've had a look on eBay and all the wireless hdmi boxes seem to be of the 'streaming' type Airplay etc

I want to replace the cable with a virtual one ie switch on the Mac mini and see it booting up on the TV without the HDMI lead connected not just stream video to it

Does anyone have such a setup ?

Thanks in advance

Option 1

If you have a Smart TV from Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, LG or Philips; test AirbeamTV software, there is a free demo and it is purchased from the Mac App Store. range is max 30 ft

Information available here: AirbeamTV

Option 2

HDMI over cat 6 cable

This is not wireless, it uses cat 6 cable but it achieves the most reliable and best picture quality of any option, max range 100 ft, cost £35

example: ProSound

Option 3

HDMI Wireless, this uses a transmitter connected to the Mac and a receiver connected to the TV or projector.

There are two quality types:

A) cheap, unreliable, very poor quality picture, working range 20 ft, cost £50 to £150 (don't buy this option)

B) expensive, reliable, excellent quality, working range is 100 ft, cost £750 to £3,000

Example: Kramer

Thanks for the excellent feedback Gary

I've just tried option 1 on my LG TV with my late 2009 Mac Mini and whilst it 'works' it is unusable. The mouse movement delay was several seconds

I appreciate it is an old machine and I might upgrade it in the future but it just has a big external drive attached to it and is used as an "iTunes server" and and small mac dev bits I want to play with

Would you expect this level of performance on an old machine ? I assume a new machine would be better ?

They are both connected wirelessly to a BT smart hub

Do you happen to know if there is an option two version that works over power line ?

Thanks again
