"coupond" is part of legitimate coupon-printing software from coupons.com.

I'm not understanding what you're seeing. You said you got an e-mail from "coupond" and that it keeps popping up at startup. Are you actually seeing an e-mail message from coupons.com? If so, have you tried deleting that e-mail message?

If this is not actually an e-mail message, where are you seeing this, and what is the text of the message?

I do not know where and how to remove something from my user profile?

In this case we want to get rid of unnecessary login items from your user profile.

To do so:

From the OS X Desktop, select System Preferences

User uploaded file

  • In the System Preferences pane, select Users & Groups.
  • On the User & Groups pane, select Login Items.
  • In the list of items under "These items will open automatically when you log in," select and remove any that you are not using. To remove them, first select the item, and then, click on the "-" minus button below the list.

User uploaded file

  • In the example image above, there are five applications that are started when I logon.
  • In your case you have CleanMyMac starting up twice.

User Login Items:

CleanMyMac 3 Menu Application (2017-02-13)

(/Applications/CleanMyMac 3.app/Contents/MacOS/CleanMyMac 3 Menu.app)

CleanMyMac 3 Menu Application (2017-02-13)

(/Applications/CleanMyMac 3.app/Contents/MacOS/CleanMyMac 3 Menu.app)

They should both be showing up in this pane. If you did not install this program, then you should remove them from starting up here.

Ok, I scrubbed the EtreCheck results to point out a few things.

  1. Coupond is running as a System Launch Agent. That means that OS X is running it as part of the operating system agents. To stop Coupond from loading the coupond.plist file must be deleted. I also suggest that you do an Internet search for "Remove coupond Mac."
  2. You are running multiple anti-virus programs on your Mac. You shouldn't need any of these, but if you insist on running one ... just run one. Uninstall the others.
    • Symantec:
      1. The anti-virus signatures update program is not working or is failing to launch. This is either because it not loading properly or something else is preventing it from launching when updates are required.
      2. This program is consuming most of your Mac's CPU processing.
    • Intego
    • Malware Bytes
  3. You are running a "cleaner" program, CleanMyMac ... that is being launched twice at user logon. I suggest that you remove the extra launch from your user profile.
  4. Use have Adobe FlashPlayer installed. This is a known "magnet" for virus issues on PCs. You may want to consider removing it and any programs that are dependent on it.

You are getting the coupond pop-ups because it is being launched when you logon to your Mac.

Launch Agents:

[loaded] com.coupons.coupond.plist (2016-01-11) [Support]

The file "com.coupons.coupond.plist" is what it being run at logon to cause this. It is located on your Mac's internal hard drive at: Macintosh HD/System/Library/LaunchAgents

To access it, you will need to use Finder, as follows:

  • Run Finder
  • From the Finder menu bar, click on Go.
  • Select Go to Folder...
  • In the Go to the folder window, enter: /System/Library/LaunchAgents, and then, click on Go.
  • A new window will appear with the contents of that folder.
  • Look for the com.coupons.coupond.plist file.
  • Select it, and then, delete it.
  • Close the window.
  • Restart your Mac, and then, run the EtreCheck program again.
  • In the results (you don't need to post them) look under the Launch Agents category. The com.coupons.coupond.plist should NOT show up again.

Well, at least according to EtreCheck, your Mac appears to be running better.

Here are a couple of articles that may be helpful.

Otherwise, I suggest that you take your Mac to your local Apple Store, if available, and have them take a look. The other option, as you have mentioned, would be to do a complete disk wipe and reload a fresh copy of OS X.

Hello

I did a net search to no avail. The coupond appeared on my desktop without my searching for it??????Nothing as I said appears when I try to "get" there from here???? I was just signing on line and looking to go to my account.

Don't you just "love" th internet....I do not! I use it probably a lot less than most other people out there. Just not my thing to be on line all the time.

I do however greatly appreciate the fine folks who have tried and often given me aid in various searches! THANKS!

Best,

Richard

I have never used that program. No I did not get an email from coupond . It just was there on a boot up! Do not know how it suddenly appeared on my desktop????? I am not very CPU savvy. I just use it for searching the net and manipulating a few photos. Do not understand how all this coupond thing started. Just was there one start up. I get my coupons from the stores that I frequent and they come in a newspaper like set up from the individual stores. I never search the net for coupons. Never heard of "coupond" until it appeared on my cpu a week or so ago. . Think I will erase my HD and reload from a back up.Sick of this thing.

And, No there was never any message from coupond. The thing just appeared while I was restarting .Never been to coupons.com <http://coupons.com/>????

Do not understand how to clean my cpu of this nuisance junk. As I said computers are not my thing. I use them mostly as a glorified typewriter and sometimes for photo manipulation though I prefer the film darkroom. Sorry if that offends the cpu afficionados.

Thanks for the advice and help.maybe I will get lucky and find a way to get rid of the unwanted junk that suddenly appeared..

Best

Hello

I cannot find the multiple antivirus programs. And I only ever installed one...Symantec...as I had used it for years. Now I need to get rid of it/them and I guess I will have to erase my HD as I cannot see how to rid myself of the interfering start up window. Sick of this junk. Think I will dump the internet for good if I ever get this mess out of here. I hate computers! I just use them occasionally when I was shopping for something I could not get anywhere else. Now I will do my best NOT to shop on line anymore. Hackers should be terminated.

Tell you how "uncomputer "I am. I do not know where and how to remove something from my user profile? Haven't got a clue how to get rid of all this stuff that is causing me trouble but to just r=erase my HD. Then of course I would have no way to restore it. I got a computer back in the day when I was a teacher and we had to start using computers, otherwise i would NEVER have gotten into it at all! I still prefer film photography and darkroom work to picts on the cpu. Have a complete darkroom with neutralizing/recycling products. I hate computers!

Hello I cannot even find those programs intego etc?????What the heck is Intego? Never heard of it!

Malware?Where would they be?Remove coupond.com apparently no such animal??????I never shop on line with coupons. I hardly ever shop on line at all. How can I remove programs that I cannot find even with a suggested (by you) search??????

This stuff just suddenly appeared at boot up one day about a week ago.

Guess my only resort is to erase the drive and reinstall all soft ware from scratch.

The cpu world on my end gone mad. Not into it like most people. I find the thing boring most of the time. But thanks for your advise and helpwill try getting rid of that junk, but this
