Maps return to my location for most searches

hello,

on iPad and iPhone 10.2: maps

when I look in another city and find Starbucks or pizza near the hotel, it will always zoom back to my current location. I can get it to find items if I know where they are like "Starbucks mid town Manhattan", but a simple search for "Starbucks" centered on Manhattan will go back to my current location and then search there. its almost impossible to search for items for my trips now 😟

I cannot find any reference to this problem, so I'm sure its just me missing the obvious

if I disable location services, then it works as expected.

when I turn it back on it fails again.

I was able to get it to work a few times, id do pizza and it works then change to Starbucks and it zooms back to my location.

I think I see the bug? better now. if I fully type Starbucks it works!

if I click the Starbucks below the search box (no location identifier) and click Starbucks there it goes to my local location, its maybe remembering the local search?

clicking the auto completes are the problem!

typing out a request fully works, but clicking the options as them come up below (I always do after a few characters) default to local search and therefore fail

so I have a slight fix - always fully type out everything - not the best but better than before

any ideas on how to fix the 'auto completing options' rom defaulting to local everytime?

after more experiments:

the 'auto completes / grey suggestions' only fail on the 2nd use - I tried some places I never go to and they work fine first, 2nd click defaults to local every time

its a problem with the maps search history and/or the suggestions with the grey magnifying glass and no location listed

qorkas as expected on maps on my Mac - only fail is on iPhone and iPad
