I know this is an old thread but I'm hoping you can answer my question.
What's the point of the iCloud then if it doesn't supplement the physical storage of my device? That's why I bought extra storage but you're saying I still have to delete stuff?

I bought even more storage on the 2.99 plan but it still shows not enough storage and I don't have much on my phone...and it is saying Icloud storage is full, not that the phone is full.
I have enough storage on my phone. The pop up I'm getting says iCloud storage full, not iPhone storage full. So I joint more iCloud storage and I'm still getting the pop up. My phones got plenty of free space left.
I Upgraded my iCloud storage from 5gb free, to 50gb.
The transaction was successful and my bank account debited accordingly.
BUT AFTER 10 DAYS, I AM STILL STANDING ON 5gb(free) STORAGE ⁉⁉
I Queried the matter several times,
BUT NO RESPONSE YET‼‼
What am I to do❓❓❓
Well, then you would have to determine what all you are trying to store on iCloud and determine if 50GB is enough. The things you might store there would be:
iCloud Photo Library
iCloud Drive files
Contacts
Calendars
Notes
Reminders
Backups
You can go to the same place mentioned above to check the size of items you are storing on iCloud, and to make sure that your 50GB plan is in place. If you still feel there is a problem, you can contact iCloud Support directly: iCloud - Official Apple Support

GB
Other people have posted similar problems and after contacting iCloud support, found it was a server problem. iCloud support reset everything. You may have to politely ask for a level 2 person.
Contact iCloud Support. You may have to try twice.
I had the same problem. Yes, it was an intermittent server problem. At least I found out I'm not crazy!
iCloud Storage does not supplement the physical storage on your device. You need to delete some stuff from your phone in order to free up more storage. You can go to Settings>General>Storage & iCloud Usage, to see what is taking up so much room on your device and work on paring that stuff down.
Best of luck,
GB
Look at Settings/iCloud/Storage/Manage Storage to see what is being synced/filling up iCloud. It will also show you how much open space is on iCloud.
Same happened to me. I called Apple Support and they said their server was intermittently down. Then it resolved itself. Though a week seems like an inordinate amount of time for that. Still, if you haven't yet called them, I suggest you do.
Have you tried signing out of iCloud and back in?
contact iTunes Support. Scroll to the bottom of the page in the 2nd link.
Yes! No idea why it's not updating
Thank you I'll look at what I'm trying to save and go from there. Thanks again! Have a good weekend.
Most welcome! You have a great weekend as well 🙂
