garageband making notes on a track

I am using garage band to write a song. I have no problem with recording my guitar on to a drum track but would like to add messages (typed notes) to a track to remind me what chord I am playing and when to change. I want to write the chord onto either a seperate track that will progress in the same way as a recorded guitar or drum track. I also would like to write lyrics and have them progress along with the rest of my project.

I would really like to know how to do this.

as léonie said, annotation tracks don't exist in GB, but there is a feature that you may find helpful.


the arrangement track sits at the top of the timeline and groups sections of your song. you can name these sections anything you wish, so you could name them for the chord progression you are using:

although it might be a little tight for lyrics, you can fit quite a few characters into the arrangement section name, especially if you zoom out:
