calendar notifications not working

hello,

I have an Iphone 7 32 gb with ios 10.2.1 installed.

Sometimes when the screen is locked my alerts and notification of calendar

don't appear. I don't understand why sometimes the notification is showed and

sometimes not. All the others notifications worked good.

Any suggestion?
Thanks

iPhone 7, iOS 10.2.1

Hi narmadehar,

Thanks for trying those steps. We have something else for you to try.

First, since it appears that the Calendar app isn't responding like it should, let's force close the Calendar app and restart your iPhone:

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Once you've done both, test and see if you get the same result when the screen is locked.

If you still have an issue after that, let's reinstall iOS on your iPhone. First, use this article to make sure that you have a backup of your iPhone: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch . Then, use this article to reinstall iOS: If you can‘t update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch . Note: This article is intended to be for a different issue but following steps 1-5 will help you reinstall iOS without erasing data.

Let us know what happens.

All the best.

Greetings narmadehar,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that sometimes when the screen is locked, alerts and notifications don't appear for the Calendar app.

I suggest taking a look at the steps in article: Use Notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch , specifically:

Change alert styles and settings for notifications

Customize your notifications with different alert styles so you can act quickly on emails, calendar invites, messages, and more. To add or change an alert style for a notification, go to Settings > Notifications and select an app.

Notifications from apps can have these alerts styles:

  • Banners: Banner alerts appear at the top of the screen and go away automatically. To reply, swipe down on the banner or swipe up to dismiss it. If you have an iPhone 6s or later, you can respond to a banner alert with 3D Touch. Just press deeply on a banner alert to respond.
  • Alerts: With Alerts, you need to act before you can move on. Depending on the app, you can dismiss the alert or reply to it.
  • Badges: A Badge is the red number that appears on an app icon and shows you how many notifications you have for that app.
  • Sounds: Have an app play a sound to alert you when you receive a notification.

If you don't see notifications for a specific app

To get notifications, connect to a Wi-Fi or cellular network. If you don't get notifications for a specific app, try these steps:

  1. Make sure that the app supports notifications. Go to Settings > Notifications, select the app, and make sure that Notifications are turned on.
  2. If you have notifications turned on for an app but you're not receiving alerts, the alert style might be set to None. Go to Settings > Notifications and check that your Alert Style is set to Banners or Alerts.
  3. Make sure that you’re signed in to your Apple ID. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores and enter your Apple ID and password.
  4. Make sure that Do Not Disturb is turned off. Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb and tap Manual if it's turned on.
  5. If you’ve recently installed an app or restored from a backup, open the app to start getting notifications.

Let me know if this helps.

Cheers.

I too am having this problem. It's like the phone goes into Do Not Disturb mode if it has been inactive for a few minutes. My Calendar notifications go off fine if I'm using the phone at the time (iPhone7, 10.3.3). If I'm not using the phone, it goes dormant and doesn't notify me of Calendar Alerts. The time it takes to go dormant varies from 1 minute to over 30. I spent an hour with Apple Support on the phone, I've reset my phone to factory defaults, then manually created Calendar Notifications. It still fails. I even replaced the phone! Same thing.
