How to get rid of the music stored in Apple Music folder on Mac?

I noticed recently that gigabytes of songs are stored on my Mac in the folder Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Apple Music. I'm using Apple Music subscription to stream songs but I don't want them to be physically stored on my mac. How do I get rid of those songs without damaging my Itunes playlists/library?

Delete songs and music videos from your iCloud Music Library - Apple Support

On your Mac or PC

Open iTunes and click Library. Find the song, album, or playlist that you want to delete, then right-click or Control-click the item.

Depending on if you have the item downloaded to your device, you might see two options:

  • If you haven't downloaded the item to your computer, select Delete From Library to delete the item from iCloud Music Library.
  • If the item is downloaded to your computer, select Remove Download to remove the item only from your computer or select Delete from Library to delete the item from iCloud Music Library.
