Gmail custom themes not working in Safari

Possible solution .

Enter in user library macOS Sierra: Library folder

Delete the contents of Caches , Cookies and Saved Application state into the trash , restart the machine and empty the trash , sometimes caches contents are removed from system library also .

In Develop menu make sure that "disable images" is not checked.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.

It is now March 6, 2017. I don't know about everyone else but I still have this issue. Does anyone know if Apple is looking at this?

The main photo choices on themes are not showing up as anything but a block grey colour and in this section attempted to upload and use one of my own photos from my computer library but when I select it as the theme it comes up grey as well. Interestingly, the other set of themes that follow beneath the first selections, the themes with block colours, cartoony backdrops and pics such as pebbles, wood effect and grass blades etc are still working fine but limited selection. Also cleared cache, history and cookies...nothing changes! Any solution?

I have a workaround.

1 In Safari, click preferences->advanced, enable show developer menu.

2 in developer menu, change agent as internet explorer 11. That will work.

So it is on gmail side. They changed something.

I am also having this issue. Started a few day ago, and only safari is not showing the theme image in gmail.

Same thing has happened to me. It has to be a Safari problem. Works with Firefox.
