Burning CDS

Hi! I installed the most recent iTunes update last night and when I tried to burn a CD the CD would not burn.. It would just eject and no music would be on it. I did not have this problem before installing the update. Is there anyway to troubleshootvthis issue? This did not occur prior to the update.

Examine the disk to see if it is already burned.

Try other writable CD's.

Try burning a different playlist.

What files are you trying to burn? Apple music is a streaming service & those files cannot be burned to CD please examine the playlist if you use that service. Remove any Apple music files from the playlist & retry burning.

You can also try another app to burn a CD to check that iTunes is the issue, Burn is a free app or use Finder to burn a disk to confirm the drive is working correctly. Finder will not create an 'audio CD', so don't expect the results to play in a CD player.

My boyfriend and I both were trying to burn CDs we're giving as prizes for a party we are hosting tonight. We were trying to burn a new playlist that he created from his iTunes library both on his computer & mine. His software could need to be updated but he said a fire wall was preventing the update from completing or something like that. I then made my own playlist from my own ITunes library with music I recently purchased and that playlist would not burn either.

It could be worth seeing if the CDs could have something else on then but I am 95% sure that they were blank.

I don't understand the 'firewall error' - you need to note the actual error message to get proper help with that.

You have a limited amount of burns with iTunes store music - if you try burning the same playlist 10 times (if I recall correctly) then it will fail. Store brought files will allow you to produce many copies.

I don't know how you can give away purchased music - read the terms of the store – I doubt that is legal! You should gift the files via the iTunes store if you intend to give them away or give people an iTunes gift card instead.

Try using Burn to see if iTunes is failing to burn.

I didn't see anything in rules about giving away purchased music as gifts but I will review them again. Most of the time we burn CDS so we can listen to them in the car and only give mixed CDS to people for Christmas gifts. However if it I illegal to give ITunes music on burned CDs then I will just send particular songs to people as gifts or give them gift cards from now on. The problem with that is that one of our friends does not have an iTunes account so we wouldn't be able to give her a gift card. I will have to have my boyfriend take a picture of the firewall message he gets and then I will have him send me the picture and post it here. We tried burning each CDS 3 times and it did not work. We will try again and see what happens though.
