An unknown error has occurred (9) iPhone 5c

Trying to restore my iPhone 5c via iTunes. It just come up with "an unknown error occurred (9)" and now won't load any further.

Any solutions?

It has the apple sign and little bar - which was loading before the error appeared but is now not moving.

FYI; unsure of which IOS operating system is installed currently.
