Messages on MAC OS "an error occured during authentication"

Messages was working perfectly fine on my desktop mac up until I got a new SSD Drive.

I transfered everything over and every since then, I cannot get messages to work without seeing

this error. "An error occured during authentication". I even booted up from the original drive and messages no longer works there either.

I just updated to Sierra hoping that would solve the problem. The issue is exactly the same.

I created another account on my mac just to see if it was an account issue. The problem remains.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of this error?

Thanks!

Hi,

Sometimes moving the OS to a different drive can make the device look like a new computer to places it connects to.

In this case it seems the iMessages server does not like the fact the computer does not appear to be the computer that was logged in before.

Try this Users Tip When the iMessages account will not Login
