MacBook Safari Download - Connection Lost when Changing Power Source

I'm running a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) on macOS Sierra (10.12.3). Safari Version 10.0.3 (12602.4.8).

I often find myself downloading somewhat large files using safari (1-2 GB per file). I've recently noticed that while downloading, if I change from battery to charger power, or from charger to battery, the download immediately stops and says "The network connection was lost". I'm using a WiFi connection when this happens, but wireless does not disconnect or stop working during this time. Only the download seems to be affected. When I press the orange restart button, the download starts right back up again, but annoying when I am downloading in the background and forget to restart when I plug in. What could be causing this?

According to this article : Safari for Mac: If Safari can’t download an item from the web

And as per this article : Safari for Mac: If you need to remove a Safari plug-in

If you installed a plug-in and notice that Safari runs more slowly, quits unexpectedly, won’t download files, or has other problems, the plug-in may be the problem.

And , network settings must be correct as location must be automatic , correct DNS server settings for google it is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 securities must be WPA2 personal AES ,the box remember this network computer has joined , in the proxies settings no options must be checked .

Hi, did you ever resolve this? I have encountered this exact issue on two occasions now. On the first occasion, I reset the SMC amongst other things, however none of these worked. I ended up having to do a clean install of MacOS and then reinstall all of my applications and restore my data. Not fun!!!

This worked for a while, but now the issue has returned.

I use Firefox for downloads now as it seems to be unaffected by a change of power source during a download.
