Data transfer cable MAC USB-A to MAC USB-C

Hello,

i got an Mac Book Pro Retina 13" with Thunderbolt 2 and USB-A connections. I want to transfer my data to my new MAC Book Pro Retina with Touchbar and USB-C. Apple has this knowledge base entry:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204360

There is a note that transfer cables such as USB-A to USB-C are currently not available from Apple, quote: "These cables are not currently available from Apple"

But in the Shop i can find this cable which states that it is able to transfer data via Target Disk Mode

http://www.apple.com/shop/product/HHSM2ZM/B/belkin-usb-a-to-usb-c-cable-usb-31?f node=8b&fs=f%3Dcable%26fh%3D4595%252B45c4

Does anyone know if the information is old and the cable mentioned above is working for data migrations via e.g. terminal from an old MAC (USB-A) to a new MAC (USB-C).

Thanks and BR
