How do I input the apple verification code on my PC

Myself and my wife own several apple devices and as such have two form ID security enabled On all of them.

Recently I fired up the old laptop (windows 7 Viao) that is the hard drive storage device for all our music, approximately 600 albums, and added a few more cds...... I know! very old school! But I did buy them once and would like them in my library.

When I try to sign into either mine or my wife's iTunes account, on the laptop, I recieve an alert on all my/or hers iPads/pods/phones telling me my account is being signed into by a device in my location. I then 'allow' the option, and it presents me with the 6 figure verification code to allow this device to become trusted, and tells me to input it on my laptop.

However no passcode input screen/popup appears on the laptop, so I cannot sign in to the iTunes account....

what do I do now?

Taken from: Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support.

What if I use two-factor authentication on a device running older software?

If you use two-factor authentication with devices running older OS versions, you might be asked to add your six-digit verification code to the end of your password when signing in. Get your verification code from a trusted device running iOS 9 and later or OS X El Capitan and later, or have it sent to your trusted phone number. Then type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field.
