Odd, I just ran across this as I was searching for why my iPhone 7 Plus is failing to charge when it's in low power mode. Of course this is a short thread, that said, the original poster is not alone in experiencing this. My phone was on the charger for approximately 11PM till 9AM. It did not charge at all. I tried several chargers with the same result. While in low power mode it fails to charge. Switching low power mode off and it begins charging.

Update:

After a little experimentation my findings:

When my phone is not connected to the charger and I go to Settings > Battery and enable Low Power Mode then plug it into a charger of any kind it fails to charge. Next, while still plugged in, I go back into Settings > Battery toggle Low Power Mode off then back on and it magically begins to charge.

This is one of my first stops in Googleing the issue so it may in fact be a known bug. Either way it is an issue and I'm sharing my workaround for it. Hope it helps anyone else experiencing the same.

Hello,

There is fast charging already.

This is taken from Apple's website:

Your Apple lithium-ion battery uses fast charging to quickly reach 80% of its capacity, then switches to slower trickle charging. The amount of time it takes to reach that first 80% will vary depending on your settings and which device you’re charging. This combined process not only lets you get out and about sooner, it also extends the lifespan of your battery.

Maximizing Battery Life and Lifespan

I actually do not understand your question. Low power mode does not affect charging at all when the iPhone is plugged into an external power source. Your phone will remain on low power mode, which will affect performance and features if you're using it while plugged in. And once the battery has reached 80% charge, low power mode will be automatically disabled.

But low power mode does not alter how an iPhone charges when plugged in to a suitable external power supply. It only affects features and settings of how the phone functions. Charging occurs exactly the same whether low power is enabled or not.
