If the correct drivers are available for your Mac, the printer should function...
Which Mac OS X does your Mac have installed, & is that version up-to-date?
Sometimes the last update step, once applied, could correct a printer issue.
So, if your MacBook etc is running Mt Lion 10.8.4, last Combo update 10.8.5
should be available (larger file than minor step update) with any driver update.
You may just run Software Update to get the update to 10.8.5 from App Store.
If that is lacking, to supply the latest software may include drivers; or see Epson.

While I have two Epson printers, one a WF845 (shared across four Macs of
differing OS X versions) using both wireless and USB connection, my older
Epson Photo 820 is using a USB port in AirPort Express to print wirelessly.
(My 845 Epson does not use my AirPort wi-fi network as such, it has its own wi-fi.
So the setup of wireless printing or bonjour printing may vary, depending on OS.)
For the printer to work with the Mac, you may need to set up a separate wireless
printer identity to choose; if Epson name does not differentiate between wi-fi &
USB models, be sure to re-name one that would be for the Mac by USB...
Also, there is a printer setup. The instructions that came with the Epson have
the easy setup by USB (and also for airprint or wi-fi) to figure out this matter.
I've not had to mess with mine but a few times since set-up. You may have
to go into Printer setup and select the printer. Be sure drivers are current.
I've not tried my iPad Mini with the 845 Epson WF ~ that's another story.
Good luck & happy trails! 🙂
