"An Extended Memory Manager is Already Installed. XMS Driver Not Installed"

I was having problems w/ itunes recognizing my new ipod, so I followed the suggestion from Apple, and deleted itunes and my previously installed ipod software (following the procedure step by step). I then attemped to reinstall itunes. I get NOWHERE! I end up with the message posted in the subject line. Is there anyone out there that can help me?

Thanks,
Loraine
