Garageband not playing lower notes for certain built-in instruments (used to play just fine)

Hi all,

I've been playing around with GarageBand lately and loving it! Unfortunately, last night I noticed what I believe to be a glitch, though. Either that, or I accidentally changed a setting without realizing it. I'm hoping that one of you find GarageBand aficionados can help me out.

The issue for me is that certain built-in instruments will not play lower notes, either through Musical Keyboard or playback. I understand that for some instruments, this is a normal limitation based on how the instrument actually functions. However, in this case, it was an instrument that used to play the notes and no longer does.

I was using the Hard Rock guitar. I made a short sample a couple of weeks ago which played back all notes just fine. I even have it uploaded to Soundcloud and am sure that all the notes played. However, when playing the sample in Garageband last night, the first note (the deepest note) didn't play.

Upon further testing, I realized that the Hard Rock guitar no longer played any notes lower than the C-1 octave. I played around with the instrument and was able to get it to play the lower notes again when changing the OctaveRange (I think that's what it was called - don't have it in front of me right now), but changing that changed how the instrument played notes all together.

I've tried restarting the computer and reinstalling the Sound Library to no avail. Exporting the sample discussed above to disc now will not play the first note either, even though back when everything was working it did play the first note when uploaded to Soundcloud.

I recently bought a Blue Yeti microphone and set that up to use with Garageband, and that's the only major change I've made that I can think of that could possibly have caused this glitch.

Has anyone ever experienced an issue like this before? If so, do you have any advice to fix it?

Any and all comments are appreciated! Thanks and have a nice day, everyone!

The Hard Rock guitar never played for me any notes below C-1. It may be the normal range of notes for this guitar.

The Hard Rock guitar is one of the Legacy Instruments from the old GarageBand '11. The older instruments could play special expressions in the lower or highest registers, depending on the attack, mod wheel, or velocity. Did you perhaps change any of these settings?

That's very interesting, thank you for your response! I don't remember changing any settings when first playing the Hard Rock guitar.

For reference, here is the sample I was referring to in the original post: https://soundcloud.com/user-142435619/ironsoundcurse

I remember being able to play the first note in that sample in Garageband back when I made it. Now, in Garageband, that first note and every single note lower than it will not play. I don't have much of a musical education or background, but I know by looking at the track editor that the first note in the sample is the key that has "C-1" written directly on it in Track Editor. If this key was never supposed to play in the first place, I have no clue how I get it to play originally (unless I'm tone-deaf and the upload is on a higher octave haha).

Anyways, thanks so much for getting back to me with your experiences and advice.
