Connectivity issues with nano v2 - interrupted sync, "file not found", 1418

Not sure if Apple support people are reading these discussions, but hopefully they are.
Short story: I have a new Red nano v2 that adds to my iPod collection of: 3G 20GB, nano v1 4GB and shuffle v1. iTunes 7.0.2 running. No issues EVER with sync or connectivity with any of the older iPods.

Out of the box, the new nano v2 would sync through about 30-50 songs and promptly "dismount" prior to completion (the nano screen would light back up and return to home state), iTunes would try to continue connecting and this leads to the famous error message "the file could not be found". If you try to Restore without first officially disconnecting the iPod, you will get the "1418 error". Tried many things - hard reset on nano, did a full restore, nothing worked. Until I switched from connecting through a D-Link powered USB 2.0 hub (which has NEVER caused issues with any device - there is nothing else on the USB circuit) to a USB 2.0 port right on my desktop.

Tried a sync and it worked like it should have right out of the box - no issues at all.

So...clearly there is an issue with either iTunes 7.0.2 and/or nano v2's and some USB connections whereby there is a sensitivity to disconnect that is causing people to be unable to sync. In my case, switching to a native port vs. a powered Hub did the trick - I'm sure there are other cases where this may or may not work. Bottom line is that this connectivity problem never surfaced with any of the other (older) iPods - seems like Apple should troubleshoot this fast else they end up with highly frustrated new customers.

For anyone with this issue, please try this first and we should see if this pattern holds true (in my search of this forum it does seem like others have noticed this)
