Try opening iTunes and parking it on your dock. Then open iMovie and see if it will recognize iTunes.

If that doesn't help, open your Music folder in the finder and see if you have an iTunes media folder in it like this:

If you don't have such a folder, you might try going to your applications folder and Option-dragging the iTunes icon to your desktop, which will copy it there. Then drag the copy into your Music folder in the Finder. iMovie points to the Music folder to access the iTunes library, and I am thinking that putting a copy of iTunes in there might cure the problem if you don't already have a folder in there like shown in the above screen shot. If it doesn't work, you can always remove the iTunes folder that you added.

You also could open the iTunes app and look in iTunes/Preferences/Advanced and make sure the box labeled "Share iTunes Library XML with other applications" is checked. Might not help, but can't hurt.

iTune and iMovie are up to date. sound effects and garbage band contents appear. The box that links to iTunes says " The contents of your stuns library will appear here" I have plenty of music, purchased and saved from disks.

Is your iTunes Music stored in iCloud? Then you may need to download the songs you want to use to have a local copy. And is the drive with the iTunes library mounted? Where is your library stored?

Do you have more than one iTunes Library?

Hi,

Assuming that you are using iMovie 10 or later, you access the iTunes songs within iMovie by opening or creating a project, and then clicking on the Audio tab at the top left of your screen, and then clicking on the iTunes item in the side bar to the left. If no songs appear, it is possible that all of your iTunes songs have digital rights protection, in which case they would not be visible in iMovie. Do you see a little note above the timeline saying that "(blank no.) of files are protected and unavailable"?
