Thunderbolt

I have bought a LaCie Thunderbolt external disk (D2) and with some of our iMac's (all mid 2011) it is working and on some not.

I noticed a difference in in thunderbolt's system view information: (OS Sierra 10.12.3)

There are some differences is in the Port micro-firmware version; the models with version 2.1.3. works fine with the thunderbolt external disk, not with version 1.2.1. and in the Firmware version: 25.1 is working and Firmware version D.0 is not working.

How can I upgrade the Thunderbolt Firmware to version 2.1.3 on these models?

The recommended SMC version (2015 for iMac mid 2011) is not to install under Sierra:

It is not compatible with Sierra, so I could not install it)

What is the quickest solution to solve this problem? How to get the right (firmware and right port micro-firmware) driver(s)?

Kind regards,

Edo

Thank you for your response,

They are all the same size: iMac mid 2011; i5 2,5 GHz 21,5 -inch

You send me the same link, as the Dutch Chat Apple support did, but I can not install the Firmware updates: it requires OS X 10.8.5 or 10.9.5 ⚠, so it refuges to install under OS Sierra.

On the not working iMac: SMC-version: (systeem): 1.71f21

Sorry for my late reaction.

I never have used mavericks on the imac's involved and I can not download it from the iStore for tests.

We start with Yosemite and now we make clean installs with Sierra on the iMacs.

Some of the iMacs involved have Adobe CC installed and are in use for a lot of video-projects.

I can not messing around with these iMac's for the video's sake!

And to make a quick and good backup we bought an external thunderbolt disk for these video's.

But it is frustrating that it seems not possible under OS Sierra to update a mid 2011 Thunderbolt port!

I also did already the Apple's hardware tests, but no problems found.

So in my opinion it is a driver problem and I hope that someone can tell me how to get or receive it!

Best Regards,

Edo
