1)Which MS Word to which on iMac?
2)IF you want to transfer the documents physically, you can use an USB Disk Drive on iMac, or an ethernet card in the performa to connect. You can then connect via Filesharing from Performa.

How exactly do you setup your network environment to facilitate such a file transfer? How do you connect using the older Mac to the newer Mac? I'm trying to transfer files from our original eMac running 10.3.9 with 512 MB of RAM to a Performa 200 running Mac OS 7.5.5 with 10 MB of RAM.
If you are accessing a Laserwriter with a Farallon EtherMac iPrint LT or Asante AsanteTalk AppleTalk-over-Ethernet to AppleTalk/LocalTalk adapter, You can also hang LocalTalk computers on the LocalTalk side and use this to do file sharing.
Otherwise, you may need an Ethernet adapter to do file sharing. Luckily, they are cheap on the used market.
well it sounds more like you dont have Word on your iMac if you can get the files over to the iMac OK.
Your best bet is to find a way to copy Word and all the Word related program files over to the iMac so the program is on both computers. With Word 5 it was easy. With Word 98 and above it may be a little harder. It will run in Classic over OSX but it should be OK.
If you have Appleworks on the iMac though you should be able to open the files
You need to have a file format that is universal to both machines. Open up the document on the Performa 475, select "Save As" and then select RTF as the file format. This format can be read by almost every word processor created after 1989.
