Sure does.. that is typical Sierra.. sorry to say.

It has quite severe network issues.. although that error is new one to me in this context.

Can you read a file, ie copy it to the Mac from the TC?

If you create a folder from windows.. place a file in it.. can you read it on the Mac?

If you can then try writing a file to the directory/folder. If that fails it is most likely a permissions issue.

Edit.. there are some problems that you can overcome using a manual mount in Finder.

Use Go, Connect to server.

SMB://10.0.1.1 (replace with your TC actual IP address you can get from airport utility).

Now try and create the folder.

How do you have disk access setup in the TC? Are you using device or disk password or more complicated username and passwords.

2. I have been having issues with creating subfolder using an iMac (Sierra) under the main AirPort root folder.

The following are very important with Sierra.

1. Make sure you don't have any AV, security or adware on your Mac.. any of those 3rd party software programs can result in your connection being impossible .. not just difficult.

Apple specifically mentions AV software must not scan the destination drive.. but our experience is much more difficult and we recommend full removal.

2. The Mac must connect directly to the TC.. either wireless or better ethernet.. not via another network router or AP.

3. The Mac must have IPv6 set to link-local only.. not auto. (unless you are on IPv6 Internet).

4. Not crucial but I usually recommend with a Full Factory Reset to the TC you use very short names.. Not apple recommended.. So names <10 characters, no spaces and pure alphanumerics. Passwords same mixed case and numbers but >8 characters.

5. IP address does not change.. This is not an issue where the TC is main router.. but if it is bridged talk to us.

It can be set via the TC itself or via the main router DHCP reservation or use static IP setup instead of bridge.

If you mount the TC in Finder. Make sure you have full admin rights with this user.

If you can access the disk but cannot create a folder you do not have sufficient permissions so you might end up needing to do this via command line. Things start getting really messy and dangerous this way. Although creating folders is trivial. If none of the above works or is relevant, I will dig up the commands for you.

The error message is probably to do with lack of permissions but is unhelpful as 99% of error messages are.

The actual context of an error is a big help.

There is not a lot of info on the error itself but Apple do have plenty of info in various documents when things go wrong.

eg that error could appear from these operations

If you see an error when you update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support

Tell us the context.

What device is causing the issue?

Since this area is for Time Capsules we are guessing the error has to do with some setup or usage problem on a TC.

What device is the error coming up on? Is this a Mac or iOS device or other?

Is it coming up as general warning or what is the specific action you are doing to generate the error?
