Desktop view zoomed in a bit even in 'fit to screen' option....

My Samsung monitor is connected to Mac pro with DVI wire, it also has a VGA port on the monitor....I happen to connect a laptop to the same monitor with a VGA wire for sometime ....after which now when I connect my mac pro again to the monitor the view of the wallpaper has as if zoomed in a little such that the icons in the dock are half hidden and apple and finder menu's at the top have got hidden in the frame of the monitor ....I have tried changing resolutions I don't know what has happened plz help.

Thanks for the reply , zoom is not the problem I guess.....behaviour is like the resolution has got changed as Mac Finder menu has moved beyond the top edge , if I move my cursor there beyond the frame it drops down but cannot be seen and is hidden inside the desktop frame....similar is with the dock icons ..... till yesterday everything was normal at 1080, after I reconnected the DVI cable I don't know what went wrong, even at 720p resolution menus is half seen ..... same thing is happening with softwares...their top page menus are not seen , they are all hidden inside the edge......
