Apple Watch and BeatsX

I just bought an Apple Watch and the BeatsX earphones yesterday. I paired the BeatsX to my iPhone 6S plus without any issue. Now I want to play a playlist with my Watch as the source but it is not pairing with the BeatsX. It shows it on there as an option but it keeps saying to turn it on and make sure that it is in range. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue? I'd like to go for a run without my phone. Help!

I have the same issue and it's incredibly frustrating. It's a constant battle. Every single time I go for a run I have to spend 10 minutes flicking airplane mode on and off, turning the beats on and off, even restarting the watch (which takes about 3 minutes). Ruins my run, essentially. WatchOS 4.0 did nothing for this issue, no Beats firmware updates since they launched. The point of the W1, and buying all Apple, is that it should be seamless. Ironically third-party wireless headphones do a better job of handing over between devices than the beats do. Thinking of returning the beats, or the watch, or maybe both.

Ok, Laarni_RN, here's what is going on here. I have now synced over a 1 GB of music and the headphones are connecting - most of the time. I don't know why they are all of the sudden. I do know that restarting the watch helps. Also, and this has worked every time they didn't connect - I swipe up on the watch's home screen to pull up the control panel and toggle Airplane Mode on and off - and voila, they connect.

Give it a try and let me know how you make out.

I am having the exact same issue. Which doesn't make sense, as from what I understand, with the W1 chip, once the headhones are paired with your iPhone, they should be automatically available on your Watch, through iCloud.

What I find is that if the phone is connected to the watch, they automatically connect to the phone and you have to disconnect them manually in Settings->Bluetooth. They should then connect to your watch.

I have been to the Apple Store to have this looked at. We unpaired my watch from my phone and then re-paired and set the watch up as new. The headphones worked properly, connecting to phone and watch at the same time. I re-synced my playlist with my watch and it stopped working again. I believe it has something do with this step. I think it may have to do with upping the storage limit in the Watch App Music Setting. Once I up it to 2gb and sync music over the original 1gb limit the headphones seem to stop connecting properly.

I am currently running a test, slowly adding more songs and testing the BeatsX connectivity between syncing sessions. So far I am at 736MB and it's still working.

Will post a followup when I'm done.

Hey, Laarni_RN. I can confirm that, for me at least, it's 100% related to the playlist I am syncing with my watch. Once I got above a certain size, 83 songs for about 760MB, they stop connecting automatically. I set the Playlist selection to 'None' in the watch app, the music is removed from the watch and they start connecting again. I will re-sync the last playlist I synced and the headphones still connected, and let you know what I find.

I'm having the issue too in the mornings when I turn on my headphones and try use the watch before touching my phone.

Toggling airplane mode on/off allows the beats x to connect to the watch.

However during the day if I am using my phone with the headphones and switch to the watch to listen it's seamless.

Have anyone spoken to Apple as to whether there will be a software fix in the future??
