Using a 1900x1200 monitor with a 15" MacBookPro

Dear fellow Mac users,

I have been considering buying a spiffy 24" LCD monitor (likely a Samsung SyncMaster 244T or a Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP) as a desktop addition to my 15" 2Ghz MacBookPro.

I have, however, never used a LCD monitor before and worry about two things, about which no thread seems to exist:

- the native definition of those things is 1900x1200 (WUXGA), and my little Mac has the weird Apple 1440x900 resolution on its screen. Will I be able to scale up to WUXGA on the new monitor when I plug it in ? I know 17" Macbook pros do it, but what about the 15" ?

- I'm one of those Parallels Desktop users. Does anybody has experience on how the Windows... window (I'm not normally using Windows full-screen) behaves on a 1900x1200 display ?

Thank you for your help, folks !

MacBookPro 15", Mac OS X (10.4.8)

User uploaded fileUsing a large display like a 24" LCD with the MBP is just fantastic. Be aware that the displays will operate (unless you tell them to do otherwise) in an extended desktop mode which means they will be two independent displays that make up one large desktop. Your MBP display will operate at its native 1440 x 900 resolution and the external display will operate at its native 1920 x 1200 resolution.
