How do I stop the "What's new in Calendar" screen appearing?
MacBook, macOS Sierra (10.12.3)
Hi,
Something like this will be generated when the app is started up for the first time.
It may be repeated after certain Upgrades to the app.
This will be held is a .plist to do with the app.
There seem seem to be several that are current for the Calendar App.:-
com.apple.CalendarAgent.plist
com.apple.iCal.helper.plist
com.apple.iCal.plist
The issue will be whether new info is being written to these files.
Whilst in the ~/Library/Preferences folder go to the View Menu of the finder and choose Show View Options.
Choose Show Modified column if you don't already.
Check that the dates on the files are current.
If they are not then you will need to check Ownership and whether you have Read and Write permissions to the files.

Closing, restarting, turning the computer on/off aren't solutions. As the welcome screen shows at the bottom, exactly where can the preferences be changed to prevent this screen appearing every single time iCal is launched?
None of this seems to work.... Ive had the same issue since the update to sierra. Each time I open calendar I have to clear this notice (well hit continue). You'd think its been year this notice would go away to at least have a box to check once Ive seen... Its just stays and stays every time..
Thanks for any help!!
I would definately follow with Steps posted

plist actions have caused chaos for years.
This is very normal when calendar is not configured , you can click on continue .
Go to system preferences > internet accounts and check the box for calendars both for your iCloud and web account .
