Are there some tv's that won't work with Apple TV?

Wanting desperately to buy an Apple TV, however, when I go to buy one I am told it won't work. I have a Panasonic Viera TH -L37G10A television.

Can someone please confirm if this is true or false?

Thanks so much,

Belinda 🙂

The specs for your TV suggest it is full HD and has 4 HDMI sockets - provided they support HDCP I'd be surprised if ATV 4 didn't work for media playback (though it may allow additional remote features with more modern HDMI implementations).

I've had all AppleTV models over the years and generally used them with old 720p and 1080p Viera plasmas without any issues, though I can't recall if I used ATV 4 on them before I got a newer 4k Samsung.

So as noted I'd be surprised if it didn't work, but over the years there have been some specific models that AppleTV didn't play well with, usually Samsung TVs but not exclusively and this was due to HDMI/HDCP implementation issues.

Why not give Apple or your nearest Apple store a ring, explain the concern and see what the returns policy is. If your high street retail outlets are anything like the big ones in the UK they tend to be clueless, but more than that they'll do anything to avoid returns themselves!

Good luck.
