AppleTV, DirecTV, WatchESPN

I can log into my AppleTV/iCloud account, my DirecTV account, and use my DirecTV log-in to authorize WatchESPN programming on my MacBook Air.

Using AppleTV, the WatchESPN app tells me there is a "sign in error" when I use my DirecTV log-in to access programming. Called DirecTV support. Clueless.

I know I can mirror using AirPlay. I want to stream using AppleTV and the WatchESPN app, and that is the solution I'm seeking.

Thank you for your comments or assistance, in advance.

If you have ESPN service on your Direct TV account you can 'Authorize' for watching via Apple TV by going to the ESPN App>Settings and follow the authorization instructions. If it is not currently working you should log out of your ESPN App and re log back in. Two things to remember.

1) A Direct TV account login will work on ESPN, a DirectTV Now account will not, you watch it via the Directv Now App instead.

2) When providers update their App with new versions, which happens automatically without your knowledge, you will need to re log back in with your login and password for that App. Not all are like this but most are.
