I heard that's exactly what they want you to do. you think you're uninstalling it but you're actually making it worse. can someone please tell me how to get rid of it without using their website? it's very disruptive. apple should do something about them.
1. The best way to prevent the problem, is to never download and install any third party av, cleaning or boosting junk-ware.
2. The problem with trying to manually uninstall app's of this nature, is that they place multiple hidden files in your User and System Folders.
3. The best advise that I can give you at this point, is to run Etrecheck and use that report to help find the background tasks associated with macbooster 4.
4. The last and more painful option, is to
a. wipe, reinstall and restore from an earlier backup.
b. wipe, reinstall and manually move your user folders back from your backup.
i never downloaded it. it installed itself. i don't really want to run another program on my mac because i heard they're all scams and just as bad as the program you're trying to erase. Doesn't apple have any advice? this is very frustrating.
Apps generally do not install themselves unless they're a hidden component of something else which can happen if you frequent torrent or other sites which engage in such behavior.
There are some apps which use installers. In those cases, you need to use an uninstaller and follow their instructions. If you don't want to do that, then the only option is to erase your hard drive and start over. Do not copy back a lot of stuff since that may contain some/all of the things you are trying to get rid of.
You can call Apple - they do not participate here. We are all users. Most likely, Apple will tell you the same things. Apple cannot control the behavior of third party apps.
And no, not all programs are scams - one must differentiate between unnecessary, harmful, and helpful.
Sorry, but I am not going to install such an app just to test their uninstaller, so I cannot answer your question. Normally such uninstallers do work and are sometimes the only way to get rid of the app - but, I have no experience with this app, so I can't say if it really does work.
Running etrecheck is a great way to diagnose some installed troublemakers and it includes some remove functions for some - maybe it does for this one.
Well, it was easy to get to their website and find the uninstall instructions:
http://www.macbooster.net/uninstall.php
Some apps require an uninstaller - this one obviously does.
Go to > http://www.macbooster.net and scroll down the page to > http://www.macbooster.net/uninstall.php
How come it took you so long? đż
Uploading photos from our Nikon and Panasonic, then updating my weekly CCC backup. đ
EtreCheck is not a scam. It was written and is maintained by a long time and very reliable ASC member, exactly for this type of problem.
OK. thanks for your help. sorry if i was skeptical but it's really hard to figure out what's legit and whats not these days. i'll try your suggestion.
thanks for your help. so does using macbooster's uninstall program actually work? i thought it just made things work.
