There’s a problem somewhere, true. But if you have already deleted all the messages from the app it becomes difficult to determine why the red exclamation point still displays over the messages icon. There should be a way to clear it, right?

There’s a problem somewhere, true. But if you have already deleted all the messages from the app it becomes difficult to determine why the red exclamation point still displays over the messages icon. There should be a way to clear it, right?
Instead of thinking about removing it, realize it indicates there is some problem with one or more messages, or whatever the exclamation point is referring to. Once you investigate and learn the source of the problem, the exclamation point will disappear.

I had the same thing happen now.
Turns out my iMessage signed out.
I just turned iMessage switch back on and it's fine.
I've had this phone for years now and it's the first time it ever happened.
An issue with the latest update, perhaps...?
Or, it could have something to do with my internet outage from a wind storm (if using wifi).
But, it didn't happen until after my internet was restored.
Exactly my problem! Zero messages BUT STILL THE SAME BADGE!
Yes! Can’t get rid of mark even th all messages were sent...
