Unable to delete an alias email address.

Ive logged into iCloud.com and clicked the gear icon in email then Accounts.

My alias email address is not giving me an option to delete it & I want it gone asap because it uses a surname I no longer wish to use ( actually, even see).

It says it is an alias and not a main email address but I am going round in circles. Tried on iPhone, iPad and on Mac.

Anyone know of a workaround for this issue please?

Yes Roger, is does say it is iCloud IMAP yet while in settings all other aliases offer an X to delete, this one has a ? which when clicked says it is an ALIAS of my APPLE I.D

So, there is no way to get rid of it? It has a surname in the address which is distressing to keep seeing. I simply want to get rid of it.

I will contact support then and see if they can assist. Thank you for your time and help.

If when you click the cogwheel icon on the Mail page at http://www.icloud.com and choose Preferences, then go to the Accounts pane, the address in question is at the top of the list and labelled 'iCloud IMAP' you cannot change or delete it. If it's below the top listed address and labelled 'iCloud Mail Alias' you should be able to delete it from the website.

If you are unable to do so you should contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com . Click' See all products and services', then 'More', then 'iCloud', then 'Account and Setup', then 'Troubleshooting iCloud account issues'. Then click 'No thanks. Continue' to be offered contact methods.
