my blue yeti mic keeps unmuting

I'm running 10.12.2 on a mac mini server mid 2011 with a thx model blue yeti. I can mute the device with the hardware button and the light blinks as expected. At random times the red light will go solid and the mic will go hot. I have disabled Siri, to no avail. It seems to happen with a browser in the foreground, though I haven't pinned down a specific browser yet, so that probably has more to do with coincidence. Any thoughts on troubleshooting the issue would be welcomed.

Is there some reason you haven't updated to 10.12.3 ? If not, I'd start by doing that and also try resetting the SMC:

Try another USB socket. My guess is that this could be something to do with energy saving. Try changing 'put computer to sleep' to 'never' in the Energy Saving Preferences panel.

Try using a powered USB hub to connect the Yeti to your Mac.
