Complete my Album

Hi,

I bought 2 singles (Shape of you, Castle on the Hill) by Ed Sheeran from iTunes released before his whole album came out, and now I want to buy the whole album, but iTunes wouldn't let me complete the album, meaning will I have 2 copies of the same song if I do buy it? Or is there any way to not let that happen? If it can't be done, it would seriously discourage people to buy the promo singles by the artists in the first place.

Thank you in advance!

Matt

Afive,

I suspect that iTunes does literal string-matching on the album title, and when two album titles are even a little different it might not notice that they are pretty darn equivalent.

did iTunes really just replaced the album of Shape of You from "Shape of You - Single" to "Divide(deluxe)" on the top songs ranking?

Quite possibly.

If you really think it should have been eligible for Complete My Album, you can certainly take the matter to iTunes Customer Service:

Hi ed2345,

I appreciate your help! But I still have some little questions, so even the first single released does not count towards completing my album? That single can no longer to be found in the iTunes Store, and did iTunes really just replaced the album of Shape of You from "Shape of You - Single" to "Divide(deluxe)" on the top songs ranking?

Here's 2 picture (from get info) of the two songs I bought:
