how to import vCard file into excel to make spreadsheet of contacts

I use Excel but I don't know of a way to import a vCard file (although there may well be). However if your contacts are in the Contacts app on your MacBook Pro, you can open Contacts, open a new Numbers spreadsheet, select the desired contacts in the Contacts app (or command A to select all) and drag them to the Numbers spreadsheet. You could then export from Numbers to Excel via the Numbers File menu.

You can't. Instead, in your contact manager choose to export the contacts as a text file in (.CSV, .TSV, or,.TXT format). These formats will directly open in any spreadsheet application.

Unfortunately the Contacts app on a Mac does not export in any of those formats.
