Constant charging?

I have a brand new iPod and one of those under the cabinet speaker systems that also charges the battery when it is docked. 90% of the time I listen to the iPod I am in the kitchen so it is docked there most of the time. Is this bad for the battery?

iMac 2 GHz Intel Core Duo Mac OS X (10.4.8) 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM

It will not overcharge or immediately harm your battery, but over time it could prevent it from getting the "exercise" Apple recommends for maximum life and capacity.

Well this happened with my iPod mini then the battery ended up lasting. . under half an hour so i think that it gradually does

I had a gen2 iPod since early 2002 and I would only run it off of battery for a hour a day MAYBE. 5 years later it still gives me over 2 hours of battery life. I just bought a new iPod myself and I'm curious if I'll get the same result....

You'll be fine as long as you do take it off the charger and drain the battery once in a while.

I do this once every month or so and I've been happy with my battery lifespan.

No need to actually "drain" the battery -- just be sure it gets some use. One full cycle every 30 days is good. See http://www.vsa.cape.com/~danh/ipod.htm for more details.
