It's just a tiny bit astonishing that the dictionary in Pages 6.0.5 (4052) doesn't know the word adopt. What gives?! Do I need to kick a tire or something?!
Going to Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Show Spelling and Grammar brings up the box (see the attached screen shot). But the box Learn isn't highlighted.

Pages 6.05 on my Mac recognises "adopt". What language is your Mac set to?
With the example of "was" you appear to have the Grammar Checker not Spell Checker. Was is correctly spelt, just claims it is incorrectly used. Nothing to learn.

For formal English, I would, too, but I can envision situations where "plenty good" would be acceptable, particularly if it was enclosed in quotation marks. Perhaps the checker simply hadn't reached that point yet.

Fortunately for the grammar checker's reputation, it says only that 'was' may have been misused. From the part of the sentence that's visible, the usage looks correct to me.

If it was me, I'd flag the "plenty good", right up there with His Majesty The Donald's pearls of English usage.
