com.apple.photomodel: runaway memory consumption

Like many others I have had this problem.

Tried many of the fixes proposed here and none worked.

Ended up using Activity Monitor to detect the runaway com.apple.photomodel process and Force Quit it every time it appeared. Very tedious and easy to forget.

Then tried gradually removing and deleting photos & videos from the library to see if I could identify the offending item and stop the runaway. Finally ended up with an empty library which still caused a runaway.

Deduction; my library container is the problem, not the photo files inside it.

Fix: use PowerPhotos (FatCat Software.com) to create a new library with a new name.

DO NOT just Copy the damaged library which just duplicates the damaged library container too. I've proved that the hard way.

Now simply copy your photo files individually, or in large blocks across to the new library. Check that the new library does not runaway. Done.

Problem solved. You can now safely delete the damaged library if you wish.
