They are both very easy to use. I would say that RapidWeaver probably offers a richer selection of features and templates/themes. The reason for this is the more open nature of RapidWeaver...it's just more inviting for 3rd party developers to get on board and customize things.

Keep in mind that I have used iWeb pretty much from Day One, and even I am thinking long and hard about developing my website with RapidWeaver going forward. Each program has plusses and minuses... iWeb has been excellent for me coming from zero HTML experience, especially with such a supportive forum here. RapidWeaver is looking like the next logical step up for me. I'm sure that I could have started with RapidWeaver from the beginning, too, and been just as happy, but it really did take iWeb as an Apple product to get me hooked in.

i use both and like james said there are good points to both programs. there are some things that annoy me with iweb, and some that annoy me with rapidweaver. really depends on the site you trying to create... give them both a try and see for yourself

if you use rapidweaver, yourhead software makes some awesome plugins to use with it

and you can get different templates for both. for iWeb try 11mystics for templates they makes some good ones. for rapidweaver try rapid-ideas for templates, i like theirs

Yeah I agree rapidweaver has these really cool plugins that have Flash-like characteristics. Accordion menu. Carousel slideshow. And tons of templates that can be switched w/o doing anything but clicking a button.

I have both iweb and rapidweaver. I am faithful to iweb as my main source though. I hope iweb 2.0 makes some headway toward some of the features in Rapidweaver.

I have actually put some cool rapidweaver features in iweb using iframes. So it looks seamless and seems a part of iWeb (if you weren't aware).

I want to insert a Google Map into it but it wont work.

Do you know if that is something which would be easy to do in Rapidweaver?

Nice beginning web site.
I've used both RW and iWeb. My problem with RW is that it is buggy and that included the most recent update from June'07. Also, I don't like having to constantly flip back and forth between the work space and preview. I've found iWeb to be easier to use regarding text and photo placement - true WYSIWYG; whereas RW is not always the case.

RW does have a larger "fan" base with many more templates and software plugins. Tinkering is easier in RW and the availability of flash and ical software add-ons is very good.

The important thing to me regarding both programs is simply:
if it does what you want it to than it's the program for you.


I think the next version of iWeb will be better than RW. Apple has a way of seeing what the other top programs offer and then match or beat them.
