How can I screen mirror from my Ipad Air 2 to a regular 32" insignia television?

I am a new apple member of the apple family. I just got my Ipad AIr 2 and have been exploring different things it can do. One of my first questions that I havent been able to figure out on my own was how to screen mirror from my ipad to my living room television. Its not a apple t.v., but rather a 32" Insignia Television. It has a Roku 3 player attached to it and both the tv and the roku player and my devices are all on my home network. I downloaded the R-Cast (an app on Roku's channel list) that is supposed to be able to cast videos, but doesnt seem to work with apps that you are using.

Any suggestions? Sidebar: I have a app on my regular cell phone, which is an Android based smartphone, that has MIracast on it. That works beautifully and its seems very easy but I dont really want to have to sit there and hold my phone while casting, just seems pointless. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Buy an iOGear wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver, and an Apple lightening to hdmi adapter cable. You can display anything showing on the iPhone's display to your tv (or iPad or laptop or whatever device you plug the transmitter into). No app required - the transmitter merely broadcasts whatever is displayed on the connected device to the receiver. I've used these with iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, lenovo t460p, Samsung android phones, an MS Surface Pro. As long as you can connect the hdmi transmitter to the device (directly or via whatever adapter is required) it seems to work fine. At home I use it with a Sharp 46" flat panel tv and at work with a 72" Visio flat panel tv.

You have found 2 "other" ways of sending a tablet's output to a TV. Roku and Miracast.

As MichelPM says, for an iPad, you need an Apple TV which has Apple's Airplay technology in it. You can attach the Apple TV to that TV via HDMI.

Oh ok, makes sense I suppose. I did figure out how to play some apps like youtube or such like apps through an app from the Roku 3 player, called R-Cast. That worked ok, but with other apps, I was a problem. But thank you anyway for the advice. Cheers.

Unfortunately, I dont have an Apple TV, and dont think I will be getting one anytime soon, their a bit out of my price range. Like I said in the thread earlier, I was able to use my ipad air 2 and mirror it with the app R-Cast through my Roku 3 player. But only a couple of apps worked like Youtube, or VLC player. Other apps that use live streaming didn't work. Not sure if I was making that clear in my earlier post. Thank you again.
