Apple TV cannot connect to bluetooth receiver (Denon AVR-S510BT)

I am trying to pair my Apple TV (4th Generation) with my Denon AVR-S510BT receiver. When I connect the receiver to my iPhone or Macbook, it asks for permission on the iPhone or Macbook (i.e. "Press 'Pair' to connect this device").

Apple TV does not create a dialog to request this permission, so the bluetooth connection between the devices is unsuccessful. Both Apple TV and Denon can see each other and the Denon recognizes that pairing is being attempted and gives a passcode, but I can't go any further.

Greetings, _jd0.
I see you're experiencing some difficulty getting your Denon AVR-S510BT receiver to pair with your Apple TV. I'm most happy to help with this.

Use Bluetooth accessories with your Apple TV (4th generation)

Get help

If a Bluetooth accessory won’t connect to your Apple TV (4th generation) or loses connectivity during use, follow these steps. After each step, see if you still need help:

  1. Make sure that you're in range of your Apple TV and there isn't interference in the area.
  2. Check that your accessory is fully charged and powered on.
  3. Make sure that the software on your Bluetooth accessory and your Apple TV is up to date. For example, if you have Beats wireless headphones, check for firmware updates.
  4. Move your Apple TV to a different location near your television.
  5. Look for your accessory in Settings > Remotes and Devices > Bluetooth. If you see it but you can’t connect to it, use the steps above to unpair your accessory. Then try to pair it again.
  6. If you need more help connecting or using a Bluetooth accessory with your Apple TV, contact the manufacturer of the accessory.

Take care!

Hi Mario,

I have read the docs, and followed each step.

1. It is in range and there is no interference. I can easily connect other bluetooth devices from the same location.

2. The accessory is fully charged and powered on.

3. I updated the firmware for the receiver to the most recent update.

4. The Apple TV is within 5 feet of both the TV and receiver

5. The initial pairing always fails.

6. I have contacted the manufacturing (Denon) this morning, and they say that unless the Apple TV creates a dialog to accept pairing, it cannot pair with the receiver.

Any other suggestions?
