iphone 7 switch from At&t to Verizon

Hello,

I'm leasing my unlocked iphone 7plus from apple with At&t as my carrier. I looked into switching to Verizon but when I put my phone's serial number in on the Verizon website it said the phone was not compatible. I thought when I got an unlocked phone I could go to any carrier. Anyone have advice on what to do? Thanks.

First off your iPhone is not currently unlocked if you are leasing it. Second the iPhone 7 models for GSM networks (T-Mobile and AT&T) and the legacy CDMA systems (Verizon and Sprint) are different. There is no CDMA capability in your iPhone 7 and if you are in an area that has no LTE coverage your phone becomes non-functional as to calls, texts and data.

But your first hurdle is paying off your lease and unlocking your iPhone.

We are having the same issue and it takes more than just paying off your lease, the two phones are different. Apple says you just need to unlock it with your carrier but Verizon says you have to have a Verizon iPhone. My husband I will be visiting the Apple Store and exchanging our phones since we were not made aware of this prior to purchasing our phones. I suggest if you want to switch you should do the same
