Deleting photos from computer

I'm trying to delete my iPhone photos from the File Explorer after I move them to my computer. When I try to delete it, it says that I don't have permission to do so. I used to be able to do it.

I already open my phone and hit the "Trust this computer" button. Can you do that somehow? Or is the capability gone to do it?

iPhone 6s, iOS 10.2.1

I don't know if you are still looking for an answer about that, but It took a looong time of mine (specially because I was trying to delete over 10.000 pictures). What I learn about it is that all you need to do is go to your mobile Settings > iCloud, select Photos and turn off all options for Photos there. Then it will be possible to delete pictures from file explorer in windows (maybe mobile restart is necessary).

There are some new security protocols for sharing pictures among apple devices in iCloud and those protocols unable us to delete the files while they are shared.

There isn't much information about it over the internet, I hope if this hint wasn't helpful for you right now, may it be for someone else.

Hello perryisaninja,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to delete pictures on a Windows computer after importing from your iPhone. If you're using iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, this is because the preferred method to import your photos is by using the iCloud for Windows tool, and here is more info.

iCloud Photo Library - iPhone User Guide
Download iCloud for Windows

This is likely caused by the permissions set to the file in File Explorer. Try this:

In Windows Explorer, right-click the file or folder you want to work with.

From the pop-up menu, select Properties, and then in the Properties dialog box click the Security tab.

Make sure Full Control and Modify are both selected. If not try editing them.
