Is there a way to kill an app using an IR remote?

Hi,

I'm using an Apple TV 4 with a paired IR remote control only. I sometimes run in to some problems with an app that requires me to kill it and then restart it. I've been trying to figure out how to do this with the IR remote without success. Is there any way to do this? I don't want to have the original RF remote at hand only for this purpose.

OK. We haven't discussed what this app is. When you re-enter the app, it may restore data from storage, or from the internet. Does it restart clean when you force quit it using the remote? You may need to delete and reinstall it. You can delete the app from Settings > General > Manage Storage, and reinstall it from the app store under Purchased. Incidentally, if you have an iPad or iPhone, you could use the Remote app to have full touchpad control over WiFi.

The app in question is for a popular video streaming service🙂 If I force quit the app with the original remote it will reload from scratch which is the behavior I want. I was hoping there was a way of doing the same using an IR remote but it seems this is not possible. For some reason the Home button is not supported for IR remotes which is why this doesn't work. Thanks anyway
