Unfortunately Malwarebytes requires OSX 10.9.
@kb0xc: I'm not sure you will find anything for Snow Leopard. Whatever you do don't get involved with MacKeeper, Mac Cleaner, or anything like that - they are poisonous.
The best defence is common sense - avoid torrents, illicit downloads, or unexpected links or attachments in email.
Is it that you are expecting to find malware or are seeing signs now. You could download and apply Etrecheck. Post the results as a reply in this thread and we will try to give some guidance.
AdwareMedic specifically stated that it removes advertising material, not malware as such. Even if it's available from some download sites caution is advised - some of them are notorious for packaging malware with their downloads.
You could try & use a manual removal technique such as those outlined
in the Tech Guides http://www.reedcorner.net/tech-guides/ and look into
the three sections there, Mac Malware Guide, Adware Removal Guide
and Performance Guide; from that page. Also note other details that may
be helpful in course of learning how to track down stuff + where to look.
The above information was by the author of 'Adware Medic' so it pre-dates
the abilities of that somewhat more automatic method; which later become
'Malwarebytes anti-malware for Mac' {the maker Thomas R. is still involved.}
There had been a removal tool for older Mac OS X (intel) before AdwareMedic.
Seemed to me that one didn't see updates, as newer tool worked in later OS X.

Guessing you don't have a PowerMac if you are able to run 10.6.8. The predecessor of MalwareBytes is Adware Medic; it might be possible to track down a version of that app that will work for you.
