Powermac G5 late 2005 Wifi internet card install

Hi! I have a late 2005 model Powermac G5 without wireless internet. I have purchased the Apple airport extreme bluetooth combo card but can't find the runway card that is needed to make it compatible. I have been reading tons of posts and hope I'm on the right track. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

While the preferred original equipment wireless parts would be best

overall to keep the configuration intact as intended (if available at

reasonable? cost, including shipping from some where else) a card

that fits into one of the slots and uses an opening in back of G5

may be another way to go. Depending on availability and cost.

This unit uses PCI or PCI-X slots; also works in G4 PowerMac tower.

Aria Extreme N PCI: 802.11N PCI card for G5 PowerMac:

While somewhere I have an original service manual in PDF for G5

tower PowerMac, which has expanded views one can enlarge,

and original part numbers; plus service/repair tips from Apple, to

find the adapter to fit OEM wireless components is daunting task.

The service source's original PDF title for G5 is:

Power Mac G5 (Late 2005)

Power Mac G5 (Late 2005 Dual 2.0/2.3 GHz) and

Power Mac G5 (Late 2005 Quad)

One part number I've seen for a 'combo card' for G5 tower has

this number but not a good image where I found it: 661-3692

however elsewhere I saw a small image of a card with instruction.

~ And these images had no part number. The LCS G5 may use same

wireless internet card as non-LC. You could try contacting business

whose interest is re-use of parts, or who repairs all Macs. Some

have access to a parts-stream or know who to ask for hard to gets.

As a guess, I'd ask wegenermedia about G5 PowerMac parts. PS:

Also ask about the 'antenna board' if the part is not already installed.

This is hard to get into and not sure if all had it installed by default.

Good luck & happy trails! 🙂

PS: one of the sites whose listing had the correct part number

for the official Apple part (card + adapter plate) shows an image:

Apple Wireless Upgrade Kit G5 Dual Core & Quad MA252G/A

Additional Information This Apple Wireless Upgrade Kit for the Power Mac G5

Dual Core 2.0, Dual Core 2.3 & Quad Core 2.5 (not) in stock, ready to ship out.

Although says they've got no stock. + Does not answer question of

IF there was a factory default installation of the necessary antenna.

The metal case effectively cancels wireless signal access to the card.

Good luck in any event...! 🙂
