Hard reset iPod Nano 4th gen

I recently purchased a used iPod from Amazon and the seller sent it to me without reseting it to factory settings. When I plug it in I cannot add music or do anything with it. What do I do? Thanks!

Hello, Samantha2045.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

Congratulations on your new iPod. I understand that you want to reset it back to factory settings because the previous owner didn't. I can help you with that but I do have a question about your iPod. You mentioned you can't do anything with the iPod, is it asking for an Apple ID & password when you turn it on? Or is it something else that's happening?

Here's the link on how to reset back to factory settings"

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!
