Using iOS 9.5.3 on iPad. In Safari, when I copy an image from a website and then paste it into another site, it only pastes the link.

THis also happens when using Safari on my MacBook. In Chrome and Firefox on the Mac, nothing pastes at all, not even the link. But it will paste into Word documents.

Is there a setting I may have wrong or is it a bug? A solution would be very welcome!

Instead of tapping Copy in Save Image/Copy or Save Image you can also try highlighting the photo, then tap copy.

No. You are not doing anything wrong. If it is an image that can be copied, you should get the Save Image/Copy option when you tap and hold down on it. Why you can save links as photos in Word is a little puzzling.

Yes, in all of the browsers mentioned, I get the Copy option when I hold my finger/right click on the image. I then get the Paste option when I should but in Safari, it just pastes the link. In the other browsers (on the Mac), I get nothing using Chrome and I don't get the Paste option in Firefox.

bobseufertexplained what to do. On the iPad, you want to use the Save Image/Copy option. That is what I was try to explain as well. Your copy/paste option is not me at to be used for images. The method that you describe is for text or links.

When I copied Bob's username and pasted in my response, it becomes a link to his profile. It did not copy his avatar.
